New year brings the new chapter for InsurTechAsia

I am excited to share with you that we are now ready to ignite the InsurTech ecosystem in Asia. Where last year was all about starting the InsurTech fire, this year we are about to pore gasoline on it 🔥

Being at the heart of the Asia InsurTech ecosystem the following became quite apparent last year:

  1. Insurers: High levels of interest in digital innovation combined with willingness invest in Proof of Concepts, among increasing numbers of insurers in the region;
  2. Startups: Lower maturity of startup ecosystem and associated lag in quantity and quality of native entrepreneurial ventures within the region.

Recognising the clear mismatch I wrote article for Forbes about Asia having potential to become the hottest InsurTech market and predicting US/EU startups flooding Asia in 2017.

The thirst to create impact meant that we weren’t about to sit on a sidelines and wait for those predictions to just happen!

Opening the floodgates for international InsurTech startups to enter Asia

What a better way to kick start the flood than to create an occasion for everyone to connect in one place and explore collaborations? When Asia Insurance Review (AIR) approached us about 1st InsurTech Summit they are planning for April, I thought its just the perfect opportunity. AIR cultivated the premier industry community of senior insurance decision makers in Asia. Combined with the right insurance startups this will be the very catalyst for InsurTech in Asia that I’ve been looking for.

We are delighted to partner with Asia Insurance Review on 1st InsurTech Summit as part of the broader initiative that will help impactful InsurTech startups find potential insurance partners and secure a Proof of Concepts in the region.

1) Asia 1st InsurTech Summit

Singapore – 26/27 April 2017 (Wednesday / Thursday)

Full event details here. The agenda will bring 150+ Asia insurance corporate leaders together with 30+ innovative insurance startups from across the world to explore tangible collaboration opportunities. In addition, there will be pre-arranged matching sessions between startups and insurers.

2) InsurTech Asia Roadshow

Federated nature of regional insurers and number of purely local insurers means that a lot of decisions are made at a country level. As such, we’ll be taking startups across few high potential markets for in-person meetings with local insurance decision makers and to provide hands-on exposure to those markets. Each country will include sessions with specific insurers, regulatory de-briefs and InsurTechAsia Meetups.

Hong Kong, PRC – 20 April 2017 (Thursday)

Bangkok, Thailand – 21 April (Friday)

Jakarta, Indonesia – 24 April (Monday)

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – 25 April (Tuesday)

Singapore – 27 April (Thursday)

Cost: US/EU Startups (PM / Leave Comment), Asia Startups – $300 USD

Lastly, this is just the beginning and we are already working on ways in which we can not only enable PoCs but also ensure their success and resulting partnerships. Stay tuned…

Wish us lots of luck and look forward to seeing many of you in April!
